Jim Thompson, founder and designer of menswear brand Three Over One, to compliment the new Three Over One collection imagery. In this Jim explains his role and how it all started, before eventually finishing up with what he hopes achieve through the brand in the future.
I will quickly give you some background behind this new collection and the brand itself. Named after the number of weft yarns the warp yarn passes over (3) and under (1) during the weaving process to construct a denim fabric, three over one promises to bring ‘honest and hardworking menswear apparel’ inspired by the mens working wardrobe of the 1930 and 40s.
He’s really pulled out all the stops this season, not only expanding his menswear range to feature a vast amount of outerwear but also adding a women’s capsule collection to the line-up. Something that will definitely give him some attention.
This nice preview was shot in and around Paddington in Sydney using friends as models, quite a lighthearted lookbook that really suits the workwear type aesthetic of Three Over One, which is more rugged than others out there. I’m a big fan though and I’m always intrigued to see what they have up their sleeve, particularly when it comes to adding shirts and other smart elements like ties. Because of the ruggedness you get a twist on a outfit that you don’t see all too often, sort of dressed up but dressed down. You can see what I mean in this range of imagery below.
