Dapper Elegance–For their spring/summer 2013 collection, Daks translates smart, iconic formal wear into a modern context. Featuring top hats, cummerbunds, and bow ties, Daks pulls references from a sharp man’s wardrobe of a previous century. However, with an iconic trench coat in vibrant orange, sleek shorts paired with crisp suiting, and the streamlined double-breasted jacket, Daks, while reminiscent of the past, doesn’t wander too far down memory lane. Rather, the staples felt updated, and the mood was playful, reflected in the lively pops of orange and the bold patterns of plaid and diamonds woven throughout the collection. The motif continues with the top hats, and even the thick-rimmed glasses, that embrace a nostalgic whimsy while dancing along the contemporary silhouette.
