Hackett London, the luxury British menswear and childrenswear brand, opened its first store on the New King’s Road in London selling vintage gentlemen’s clothes and accessories.
It soon became apparent that market demand would always exceed supply and Jeremy Hackett and Ashley Lloyd-Jennings decided to manufacture from new, to complement the second-hand offering. Starting from scratch but working with traditional manufacturers, they were able to create their ideal range of clothing and accessories for town and country based on their extensive knowledge of British men’s style.
Not long after starting to sell new clothes, Hackett added sportwear to sit alongside its formal, business and smart casual ranges. This came off the back of Hackett’s first sponsorship, of a Household Cavalry polo team playing out of Guards Polo Club. This has led onto many successful sporting and social sponsorships including dressing the England Rugby Team during its victorious World Cup campaign in 2003 as well as World Cup Winner Jonny Wilkinson and current partnership collaborations with Aston Martin Racing, The Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race, Klosters Snow Polo, The British Army Polo team, and the BNP Paribas Tennis in Paris.
